On September 1, SIA students reported to school one after another. After careful planning and strict epidemic prevention drills, SIA teachers were ready to provide rigorous, meticulous, well-organized, collaborative and thorough services to ensure that students could report and stay in school safely and conveniently.

SIA set up a special check-in point at the school in strict accordance with the epidemic prevention and control requirements. Parents will drop off their children at the check-in point, vehicles will stop and go, and teachers will assist their children with their luggage.

On the morning of September 2, SIA held its opening ceremony for the new 2021 school year.

Mr. Simon Head, Principal, began by extending a warm welcome and sincere greetings to all SIA students. He said that 

Suzhou Innovation Academy is a creative, future-focused IB World School designed to spark the imagination and evoke wonder. We empower learners to move with optimism beyond the school and into a new future.

The Chinese Principal, Susan Zhang, also welcomed the students and mentioned that in the new academic year, SIA has welcomed new members of the team. She hoped that with the joint efforts of all of them, the students would gain more in the new academic year, with Chinese sentiment and international vision, and also hoped that the students would enhance their excellent qualities of positivity, perseverance and commitment.

Mr. Jordan.West-Pratt, Vice Principal and Director of Innovation, said that SIA is like a big family, and everyone is making efforts to develop the family. He also posed three questions to the students.

How do we make spaces for everyone in our SIA family?

What will we do with our 2700 opportunities?

How can we leave shady trees for others?

Eric Liu, IB Coordinator and Head of Student Affairs, reflected on the two years of IB students' learning experience to the senior class: the children have improved both academically and in terms of their abilities. He also wished the seniors the best of luck in their final year as they continue to pursue their dreams and make the most of their time at SIA!

As a student representative, Amber Zhu, the president of SIA Student Council, spoke, hoping that all students would not forget their original intention of coming to SIA and keep breaking through, so that we could all meet at the top in the future.
